A small family foundation helping feed the hungry continues to experience a windfall because of Steelers fans.
More than $42,000 in donations has flooded the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation since the Steelers beat Baltimore to a clinch a spot in the AFC playoffs, board chairman Brian Mulholland said Thursday.
The Washington, D.C., foundation is the favorite charity of Ravens placekicker Tyler Loop, whose missed 44-yard field goal attempt as time expired Sunday night made him the target of a wave of online vitriol from Ravens fans.
To show their support for Loop, and in protest of his treatment, Steelers fans began donating $26.24 to the Mulholland foundation, a nod to the 26-24 final score. Ravens fans then joined the effort, donating $30 to signify Loop’s total of made field goals this season and $33 for his jersey number.
