Tori Fernandez Whitney appointed to JSM Board of Directors

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Tori Fernandez Whitney to the Board of Directors of the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation.

Tori Fernandez Whitney is a seasoned public sector and non-profit executive based in Washington, D.C. With a career spanning over two decades, Tori is a trusted advisor and a driving force in the realm of change management, turnaround, and organizational stabilization. She has held senior executive leadership roles with global, federal, and local agencies, including as a Cabinet official in the administration of former District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty.

Tori specializes in helping both private and public sector organizations align their missions with core functions. She achieves this by developing resilient infrastructures, strengthening business operations, and evaluating human capital needs to enhance an organization’s capacity to strategically plan, evaluate, and successfully implement change in fluid political and fiscal environments.
Tori’’s career is a testament to her passion for guiding organizations through transformative journeys. Her expertise and commitment to excellence have made her an invaluable resource for organizations seeking to thrive in an ever-changing world. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Tori attended American University in Washington, D.C. earning double eagle status with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration (MPA).

I first met Tori when she served as Interim Executive Director of The Father McKenna Center. She impressed me greatly with her leadership style and purpose of mission. One example: we worked together serving Thanksgiving Dinner to 100 homeless men in 2023 — she gave all the paid staff time off to be with their families and personally commanded the team of volunteers, including me and students from the Howard University School of Nursing. She was right there on the line next to us orchestrating a perfect, home cooked meal for all the men.
Most recently, she wrote the grant request for our successful award from Coca-Cola Consolidated and will direct our grant initiatives moving forward. She has provided me seasoned and sound advice and we feel so blessed she has joined John S. Mulholland.
