Summer in the City

John S. Mulholland has embarked on our 12th Annual Summer in the City campaign. JSM is the only organization in the Washington Metropolitan Region to conduct a major food drive in summer, when food insecurity is at its peak.

Scores of volunteers will once again participate in this effort, with a goal of 100,000 cans/packages of food by Labor Day.

Participating churches include Blessed Sacrament, St. Thomas Apostle, St. Stephen Martyr, Holy Trinity, St. Augustine, Annunciation, Cathedral of St. Matthew, and Our Lady of Victory — all in the District.

We will visit St. Peter’s in Olney, St. Paul’s in Damascus, Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac, St. Jerome’s in Hyattsville, St. Francis Assisi in Derwood, St. Bartholomew’s in Bethesda, Holy Cross in Garrett Park, St. Mary’s in Rockville, and four parishes in Silver Spring — Our Lady of Grace, St. Andrew Apostle, St. Bernadette’s, and St. John the Baptist.

Merchants Capital is among the corporations participating — churches and companies continue to be added to this effort daily. At John S. Mulholland, we know that hunger doesn’t take a vacation. That’s why we’re offering our full menu of food pantry items to the families we are privileged to serve, without interruption this summer and every summer.
